Sally H. Harris, 64, of Leawood and most recently of the Village of Loch Lloyd, passed away January 9, at the Kansas City Hospice House after a courageous 20-month battle with melanoma. Sally was born May 14, 1945, to Andrew and Elizabeth Horne. She grew up in Saginaw, Mich., and went on to attend the University of Michigan, where she graduated a semester early in 1966 with a B.S. in economics. After graduating, she taught high school math in Michigan and then in Ohio. She married Joseph D. Williamson of Youngstown, Ohio, in 1966, and they had two children. In 1974, the family moved to Kansas City. Sally transitioned to single motherhood after being divorced, and in 1975, she began law school at the University of Kansas. She graduated with her J.D. in 1978 and immediately went to work at the Overland Park firm of Wallace, Saunders, Austin, Brown and Enochs. She was the firm's first female attorney and was also one of the first female attorneys in Johnson County. The firm made her a partner in 1983, and she was a highly regarded litigator specializing in medical malpractice defense. She was particularly proud of the fact that she was appointed for seven terms by the Kansas Supreme Court to serve as a member of the Kansas Board for the Discipline of Attorneys. Read more...
